What wind zone is my Texas property in for anchoring?

TexasReviewed October 2026

Most of Texas is HUD Wind Zone I, while coastal counties are Wind Zone II. The 2004 Texas manufactured housing rules listed Aransas, Brazoria, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Galveston, Jefferson, Kenedy, Kleberg, Matagorda, Nueces, Orange, Refugio, San Patricio and Willacy counties as Wind Zone II; confirm the current list with the state before relying on it. Texas' generic anchoring rules say a Wind Zone I home built since September 1, 1997 may not be installed in Wind Zone II, and require tighter tie spacing there, at no more than 8 feet on center without an engineer. The state's installation notice (Form T) records the wind zone for every install.
