Where can I get my well water tested in Texas?

TexasReviewed October 2026

Use a laboratory accredited by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. TCEQ explains how to search the national accreditation database: choose TCEQ as the accrediting body, pick drinking water and the test you need, then search by city. Your county health department or groundwater conservation district may also offer testing or know local labs, and the Texas Well Owner Network holds low-cost screening events around the state. Nationally, the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791) can refer you to certified labs. Follow the lab's sampling instructions exactly, since bacteria samples usually must reach the lab within a short window.

Check your local rule. This varies by state, county or city. Your permitting office has the final word; the official lookup pages below show you who that is.
