How do I check that a Texas plumber is licensed?

TexasReviewed October 2026

Search the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners' Public License Search, which TSBPE links from its home page, or use its Find-a-Plumber map. TSBPE advises checking that the company has a Responsible Master Plumber, whose license number should appear in its advertising, that the master plumber has insurance on file, and asking TSBPE's enforcement department about complaint history. Get written estimates that spell out the scope of work and ask for references. License types include master, journeyman and tradesman plumber, plus endorsements such as Water Supply Protection Specialist for backflow and cross-connection work.
